Polsinelli Shughart PC believes strongly in the ongoing training and professional development of all of its attorneys. To facilitate its commitment to professional development, the firm has an Attorney Training Committee comprised of shareholders and associates from each department. The Training Committee sponsors quarterly training sessions on a variety of topics of general interest to all attorneys. Past seminars include accounting for lawyers, legal writing, legal ethics and the annual in-house counsel forum.
In addition, the Training Committee sponsors the Polsinelli Shughart 101 seminar every January. Polsinelli Shughart 101 is a full day seminar targeted to new associates and recent lateral hires. The purpose of the program is to assimilate associates to the firm's culture and provide practical information on associate expectations and working relationships with clients.
Each department and practice area also provide targeted training designed to strengthen the particular skills useful to each department or practice area. One popular example is the Business Law Institute held every year for all of that department's attorneys.
Finally, the firm pays for CLE courses and bar dues.
